Akaiten
Japanese restaurant in Lippischer Hof
The restaurant AKAITEN in the Lippischer Hof, located in the health resort and thermal spa Bad Salzuflen, offers Japanese fine dining at the highest level of taste and craftsmanship. The planning office FORMWAENDE reinterpreted Japanese Art Deco on 180m² by deliberately reduced forms and clear geometric lines. This contrasts with the large street art graffiti on the walls.
The noble lighting concept, paired with the highest quality materials, give the premises a special flair. Cool stone and tile surfaces meet warm wood and soft upholstery fabrics, dark fixtures meet light ceilings, opening the low room upwards. Semi-transparent sculptural metal elements add a sophisticated touch to the concept.

The color selection of the materials and surfaces used blends in with the different areas of the hotel. Dark violet and rich berry red are juxtaposed with sober gray and black tones. Comfortable seating such as the LUNAR PURE as well as the GAIA LINE, elevated seating positions on pedestals, and benches at standing height offer the right seating for every taste.
The focal sushi counter with fully equipped kitchen is visible from almost everywhere in the restaurant. Directly adjacent seating also provides an insight into the work of the sushi masters.

When it comes to food, AKAITEN offers a special level that leaves nothing to be desired. Vegetarians, for example, will enjoy the fantastically crispy tempura with terriyaki mayo, while meat eaters will enjoy the deep-fried pork belly served with smooth sweet potato puree. Sushi fans should try their way through the varied assortment; here, every roll is a delight and a masterpiece of craftsmanship.
Most appetizers come with a finely tuned sauce, so the typical dip in soy sauce can even be omitted. As usual, ginger is served with the sushi, as well as wasabi, the latter both in the familiar garish green paste form and as a fresh relish in which the water radish appears in its original form, lightly marinated. An incredibly tasty and fresh addition that gives the right kick.
To accompany the meal, one of the many well-selected sakes can be combined, served on ice. For drinking vessels, Akaiten provides both the traditional wooden masu and glasses, depending on preference. As an apperitif, the »Déja-Vu Tonic« is highly recommended, a fresh, tart-sweet combination of wine liqueur, tonic and rosemary. Lastly, a refreshing matcha ice cream clears the stomach.
